Having worked at all levels of IT from 1st line support to IT Director, both as a supplier and as a client, I have a wide range of experience; the common theme has been understanding problems, creating solutions and explaining complex IT issues to a non-technical audience.

For the last 3 years I have headed up Armstrong Watson’s Technology service line, helping to navigate the firm through the challenges of Covid and remote working whilst delivering our strategic plans to build a platform for the future. Building an IT team that is delivering value to the firm and our clients.

From an operational perspective, I’ve worked with the board to identify our current and future needs I created a strategy to create a platform that allows our colleagues to work from anywhere and deliver the best quality advice possible to our clients. I’ve managed a number of transformative projects during this period including:

  • A full server migration to Azure
  • The full Office 365 stack and Exchange Online
  • Replacement of phone system with Teams calling
  • Move from terminal servers to local working and laptop deployment
  • Full document management system migration to SharePoint

A large part of my role is innovation, identifying how to improve the efficiency and profitability of the firm; often this is new technology but sometimes just improving how we use our existing systems and processes. I’ve developed partnerships with a number of suppliers that enable us to innovate both internally, and for our clients, in areas such as RPA and automation and Cybersecurity.
