Raj is a seasoned general counsel and company secretary, with experience in FTSE and PE-backed companies across multiple sectors.
Having moved in-house upon qualification, Raj has learnt how to scale high-performing legal capability across organisations. Finding simple hacks, leveraging existing technology if possible, and deploying AI support are in his playbook, but the biggest win each time: know the business inside out. What does that mean? Basic things like read internal reports; understand the cost/revenue levers and the KPIs and what drives them; talk to customers, suppliers, fellow employees; keep an eye on sector dynamics; and be genuinely interested in the customer and employee journey.
He has worked closely with panel firms on challenging their perception of, and interaction with, the ‘smaller-revenue client’ (still a valuable client!). There is still so much more that firms can do to support sole counsels/small legal teams…and Raj is a on a mission to improve their offering.
