Anthony joined the firm following 20 years in the public sector at HM Revenue & Customs, the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority, where he was most recently Deputy Director, Head of Threat Management and part of the senior leadership team overseeing HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service.  During his tenure at the agency, his responsibilities included directing response to serious and organized crime threats, managing a risk portfolio worth more than £6 billion annually, and overseeing relationships with law enforcement agencies and international partners.

Early in his government career, Anthony was an intelligence analyst and qualified Financial Intelligence Officer, working on a range of matters from transnational crime to high-profile investigations.  His interest in complex data problems and technology solutions subsequently led to him managing HMRC’s primary compliance data exploitation and risking tools, containing the data of millions of UK taxpayers, supporting ~5,000 users.

He has experience of working with public and private organisations on major change initiatives, including delivering multi-million-pound programmes.  He has also led a number of innovation drives, including establishing HMRC’s first Research & Development Laboratory in the wake of the Panama Papers and projects focused on modernising investigations, including the testing of AI solutions.

He has firsthand insight into the role of law enforcement and supervisory bodies, having led more than 1,000 civil and criminal investigation staff working on a range of high harm frauds and money laundering cases.
