I am hosting a Peer-to-Peer roundtable discussion – what is the format?
Peer-to-Peer Roundtables
- There are 45-minute discussion groups, each led by a managing partner from a mid-market law firm, with approximately 12 delegates each time.
- The roundtables follow the Chatham House Rule, giving you freedom to speak your mind in smaller groups allowing everyone to participate.
- Get insight into your peer’s challenges and find solutions for your own.
- The attendees will be eager to hear about what you have done in your firm or department, you are not expected to provide a solution, just a frank outline of how your firm has dealt with a particular situation.
- Roundtable hosts do not use slides for these discussions. Instead, start with a brief introduction of yourself and your perspective on the topic. Encourage open, honest discussion and genuine debate following the Chatham House Rule.
Suggested roundtable format:
- Intro yourself: And mention that the topic should encourage a frank conversation and mention The Chatham House Rule.
- Set the scene – 5-minute explanation of your experience of the topic. The attendees will be eager to hear and learn from your experience. You are not expected to provide a solution, just a frank outline of how your firm or team has dealt with the challenge.
Suggested outline may include:
– What approach have they taken?
– Why did they decide this and how did they go about it?
– What was the process?
– What have been the benefits?
– What have been the challenges, if any?
– Why was this a priority for the business?
- Ask the questions – prepare 3 or 4 questions to ask the attendees to start off the discussion.
- Please set your phone timer to keep to time
Possible questions may include:
– Are people considering the same?
– What is your current process?
– What is working well?
– What data volumes do you deal with?
– Do you think other teams would use these tools?
- A wrapping up with key takeaways at the end.
I am hosting an Ask the Expert roundtable – what is the format?
These Ask the Expert sessions are focused and interactive sessions where participants have the opportunity to engage directly with a seasoned professional in a specific field. The sessions are designed to provide valuable insights, practical advice, and in-depth knowledge on particular topics of interest.
The sessions
- There are 45-minute discussion groups with approximately 12 delegates each time.

- Please set your phone timer to keep to time
Actionable insights: wrapping up with practical takeaways takeaways and strategies that can be applied to delegates’ own work or organisation.
I am hosting a Workshop – what is the format?
Workshops are interactive, discussion-led sessions designed to encourage audience participation, practical learning, and knowledge sharing. Each workshop lasts 60 minutes and can be structured around presentations, facilitated discussions, group activities, or hands-on exercises.
To help us set up the room appropriately and ensure your session runs smoothly, we ask all workshop speakers to confirm any AV requirements and room layout preferences in advance, including seating style, presentation needs, microphones, and screens required for audience engagement. This information allows us to create the best possible environment for your session.
Please arrive 20 minutes before your session to allow time for setup.
Please confirm your requirements with Charlotte: charlotte.bogaert@alternativeevents.co.uk
I have requested a room for the night – is this confirmed?
If you have ticked that you intend to stay overnight, then yes, a room is confirmed for you at Wyboston Lakes Resort on Monday 14 September. There are 3 venues on the site and these will be allocated randomly. However if you book additional nights be sure to let Phoebe Bugden know so that we can link the reservations and hopefully avoid any need to change rooms.
By confirming your overnight stay, you are committing to the room, which is being paid for IN ADVANCE by Alternative Events. Therefore, if your plans change, we ask that you give us at least 48 hours’ notice if you are no longer able to stay overnight, so that we can offer your room to another attendee. You will also be asked to re-confirm your room in the run up to the event.
Delegate Replacement: If you find yourself unable to attend an event within the 48-hour cancellation window, please try to send a colleague who meets the delegate requirements in your place. This not only ensures the continuity of your participation but also helps maintain the overall quality of our events.
P.S. Please don’t be a “no-show” .. We have a great delegate culture at Alternative Events, where delegates let us know if they cannot attend. We understand that plans change, and while we’ll miss you, we’d much rather know in advance than have unused (and paid for!) rooms. Your understanding with this is greatly appreciated.
Wyboston Lakes Resort is a large site – where are the rooms located?
The conference will be held in the Woodlands Conference Centre and bedrooms are split between this centre, the Willows Training Centre and the Drift Hotel (formerly The Waterfront).
