I am hosting a roundtable discussion – what is the format?
Peer-to-Peer Roundtables
- There are two back-to-back sessions
- Each session is 30 mins back-to-back with approximately 12 delegates each time allowing delegates to attend two different discussions.
- The roundtables follow the Chatham House Rule, giving you freedom to speak your mind in smaller groups allowing everyone to participate.
- Get insight into your peer’s challenges and find solutions for your own.
- The attendees will be eager to hear about what you have done in your firm or department, you are not expected to provide a solution, just a frank outline of how your firm has dealt with a particular situation.
- Roundtable hosts do not use slides for these discussions. Instead, start with a brief introduction of yourself and your perspective on the topic. Encourage open, honest discussion and genuine debate following the Chatham House Rule.
Suggested roundtable format:
- Intro yourself: And mention that the topic should encourage a frank conversation and mention The Chatham House Rule.
- Set the scene – 5-minute explanation of your experience of the topic. The attendees will be eager to hear and learn from your experience. You are not expected to provide a solution, just a frank outline of how your firm or team has dealt with the challenge.
Suggested outline may include:
– What approach have they taken?
– Why did they decide this and how did they go about it?
– What was the process?
– What have been the benefits?
– What have been the challenges, if any?
– Why was this a priority for the business?
- Ask the questions – prepare 3 or 4 questions to ask the attendees to start off the discussion.
- Please set your phone timer to keep to time
Possible questions may include:
– Are people considering the same?
– What is your current process?
– What is working well?
– What data volumes do you deal with?
– Do you think other teams would use these tools?
- A wrapping up with key takeaways at the end.
I am hosting an Ask the Expert roundtable – what is the format?
These Ask the Expert sessions are focused and interactive sessions where participants have the opportunity to engage directly with a seasoned professional in a specific field. Actionable insights: wrapping up with practical takeaways takeaways and strategies that can be applied to delegates’ own work or organisation.
When and how can I download the event app WHOVA?
The event app WHOVA will be made available to you 2 weeks out from the event when you will be able to populate your profile, and communicate with sponsors and fellow delegates. Full details on how to do this will be provided.
I have requested a room for the night – is this confirmed?
If you are a qualified delegate and you have ticked that you intend to stay overnight, then yes, a room is confirmed for you at Wyboston Lakes Resort in either the Woodlands Conference Centre, the Willows Training Centre or the Drift Hotel for the night of Monday 1 March. You will be asked to reconfirm this room with Alternative Events ahead of the event. If you do not reconfirm your room, your room might be released.
By confirming your overnight stay, you are committing to the room, which is being paid for IN ADVANCE by Alternative Events. Therefore, if your plans change, we ask that you give us at least 48 hours’ notice if you are no longer able to stay overnight, so that we can offer your room to another attendee.
P.S. Please don’t be a “no-show” .. We have a great delegate culture at Alternative Events, where delegates let us know if they cannot attend. We understand that plans change, and while we’ll miss you, we’d much rather know in advance than have unused (and paid for!) rooms. Your understanding with this is greatly appreciated.
Wyboston Lakes Resort is a large site – where are the rooms located?
The conference will be held in the Woodlands Conference Centre and bedrooms are split between this centre, the Willows Training Centre and the Drift Hotel. You can walk between all the venues (around 8 minutes) and a map showing the fastest route will be provided upon check in. We will also have a shuttle bus operating during the following times:
Monday 1 March 17:00 – 01:30
Tuesday 2 March 07:00 – 10:00
This will be available upon demand and you will be provided with a phone number for the driver. Look for the bus stop sign at each of the 3 venues.
Can I book accommodation for extra nights?
Yes, you can book a hotel room for additional nights direct with the venue here. If requested please apply the code ALT2026
Please note: We are juggling guests across 3 venues across 3 nights so the earlier the bookings for any additional nights can be made the more likely the venue will be able to keep you in the same room. Bookings made less than one week before the event risk the requirement to change rooms for additional nights. Thank you!
Please notify Phoebe Bugden if you have made a reservation direct with the venue for additional nights.
We do not sent individual room confirmations out to each guest so please assume rooms will be allocated to you as per your contract.
If you are unsuccessful in reserving a room at the Wyboston Resort, there are 2 Premier Inns very close, the first of which will be included on the shuttle bus route:
St Neots Hotels | Book Hotels In Wyboston | Premier Inn
St Neots Hotels | Book Cheap Hotels In St Neots | Premier Inn
When can I check-in and out of the hotel?
If you have requested a room for the night of Monday 1 March, you will be required to sign in and confirm this upon arrival, and then your room key will be available in the reception area of the Woodlands Conference Centre from 17:00 on Monday. Check-out is by 11:00 on Tuesday 2 March.
Where will breakfast be available?
For guests staying over on the Sunday night breakfast on Monday will be served in the venue that they stayed in.
